Do I have to be 21 years old?

Yes. This is a drinking tour and almost everywhere we go only admits people of legal drinking age, which is 21 years old in the USA.

Which breweries/bars do we visit?

Our destinations are always subject to change; the goal is to expose you to the best set of beer drinking experiences available.  Sometimes private events, busy times, and other unforeseen circumstances cause us to alter our original plan.  There aren't enough breweries in a close enough area to walk only to breweries, so we also may visit certain tap rooms, gastropubs, and dive bars that have excellent beer selections.  We try to bring you as much high quality ultra-local beer as we can, but if this isn't possible at all stops, we will still get you access to some great beer you've probably never had.  Our most common destinations on each tour are listed below.

ThirstyBear Brewing Co.

Black Hammer Brewing Co.

What should I bring?

  • Your ID: Many places in the USA are very strict about not serving beer to people under 21 years old, including most places we visit.  Please be able to prove you are 21 or over.
  • Shoes or sandals: Make sure they're comfortable enough for you to walk at least 1.5 mi (2.5 km) in.
  • Jacket: San Francisco is famous for its cold foggy summers.  Bring a jacket or sweatshirt.
  • Water and snacks: You can get both of these at some of our stops, but you can bring them too.
  • Extra cash: If you want to buy a snack or stay around after the tour for some beer or food with the group, some of the places we visit accept cash only.
  • Great Attitude: Come willing to learn and ready to make fast friends.  This is as much a celebration as it is a tour and our goal is for this to be your favorite memory of San Francisco.

What if it rains?

Our tours happen rain or shine!  You won't be out in the elements too long and beer tastes great no matter the weather.  Our tours are a fantastic way to spend a rainy day!

What if i don't want to drink?

We aren't going to force you to!  You still have to be 21 years old, however, due to the rules of many bars we visit. When purchasing the tour you can choose the "non-drinker" price.

Can I bring my Pet?

No. We love all kinds of pets, but this is a people tour, so people only please.  Service dogs are allowed, but please do not abuse this.

Is the Tour handicap accessible?

Yes, please inform us ahead of time so we can best accommodate you.  There may be certain inaccessible areas, such as back in the brewery.  All public areas are accessible without stairs and there are no major hills on our routes.  Please  be comfortable walking/wheeling 1.5 miles (2.5 km) if you book this tour.

Should I Tip My Guide?

Yes. While the final decision is still yours, tips are a very important gesture of your appreciation in American culture.  Your guide depends on tips for a very significant part of his/her wages.  We train our guides to go above and beyond the call of duty and hope you feel they did, in which case they have earned your generous tip.  If this is not the case, please contact us directly with your feedback and we will do everything we can to provide better service on future tours.

As pulled from Trip Advisor's US Tipping and Etiquette page:

"Tour Guides: 15% - 20% + depending on quality (knowledge, friendliness, etc)"

The beer was excellent and we certainly got our money’s worth. Adam had us try several that I normally would have skipped over and I ended up finding a new appreciation for several styles of beer I hand’t tried in awhile
